Who backs the Personal Agent Protocol

Ten organisations are named as PAP partners, but not by the same announcement. Sierra's post lists Genesys, Instinct, Rocket, Shopify, Stripe and Walmart. Meta's, as reported by CMSWire, drops Instinct and adds NiCE and Decagon. Neither company has explained the difference.

Not on either list: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Amazon. Bret Taylor told CNBC he expects OpenAI and Anthropic to come around. Amazon, which blocked Meta's Muse in September, is the absence retailers will notice most.

Sierra and Meta are co-developing the PAP specification and leading the initiative.

Launch Partners

Four of them come with a published quote. The rest were named and nothing more, so we haven't filled the gap with guesses. Nobody has reported a production deployment yet.

Named as a launch partner in the October 6 announcement. The post does not describe a Walmart product integration.

By industry

  • Retail and commerce: Walmart, Shopify
  • Payments: Stripe
  • Mortgages and real estate: Rocket Companies (Rocket Mortgage, Redfin)
  • Contact centers and customer service: Genesys, NiCE, Decagon
  • Agents: Sierra, Meta, Instinct

Our read: three of the ten (four, counting Sierra) sell customer-service software. They're the ones who'll field agent traffic first. Retail has two, and the biggest online retailer isn't one of them.

Can other companies join?

Sierra says it will run design workshops with interested parties and publish a reference implementation after v0.1. Meta mentions a partner working group. There's no public sign-up yet. When one appears, it'll be on the status page.
